How does the marketplace work?
Your rental inventory is listed on BigRentals.com, where we invest in advertising to drive customer traffic. When a customer books through the marketplace, we handle customer inquiries and communication leading up to the booking. You simply review and approve or decline each reservation request. Listing your inventory on the marketplace is free. We only earn when you earn, through a 20% commission on marketplace bookings.
Is there a contract or long-term commitment?
No. HQRent is month-to-month with no long-term contract required. If you decide it is not the right fit, you can cancel at any time. We also offer optional annual billing at a discounted rate for customers who prefer to lock in savings.
How long does it take to get started and set up my business?
Many businesses go live within 24 hours once they provide their photos, item information, and logo. We work as fast as you work. The setup includes importing your existing data, adding inventory, setting up payment processing, configuring your website, customizing your branding, and training your team. Our onboarding team can handle the entire setup for you if preferred.
What's the difference between monthly and yearly billing and do you offer annual billing?
Yes, we offer both monthly and annual billing options. With yearly billing, you pay for 12 months upfront and receive a 20% discount compared to paying month-to-month. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of the billing cycle unless canceled. You can switch to annual billing anytime from your account settings or select it during signup. We accept credit cards for monthly billing and ACH bank transfers for annual subscriptions.
How do I create my first booking?
To create your first booking, log in to your account and navigate to the 'Bookings' section. Click on the 'New Booking' button, select the trailer you want to rent out, choose the dates, add customer information, and click 'Create Booking'. You can also set up payment options and add any additional notes or requirements.
How does my inventory automatically sync to the marketplace?
When you add inventory to HQRent, it automatically appears on the Big Rentals marketplace and in local search results without any extra work. Your listings are optimized for local searches, include all your pricing and availability, and drive bookings directly to your business. No manual uploads or separate marketplace management needed.
Will my price go up if you raise prices later?
We may change our prices over time to cover the cost of continuing to improve the software. If you pay for a yearly plan, you're guaranteed to lock in that rate for the full year. We'll do our best to keep our prices low and affordable.
What if someone books on the marketplace but the equipment is already rented?
Marketplace bookings come through as reservation requests. You can choose to manually review and approve each request, or enable auto-accept as a setting depending on your preference. If a request conflicts with an existing booking, you can simply decline it. Your own booking system always takes priority.
How do payments work? How do I get paid?
HQRent has a payment processor built directly into the software, and onboarding is quick and easy. You set your own bank account for deposits, track all transactions from your dashboard, and manage payouts on your schedule. We also support some external payment processors for businesses that prefer an alternative.
Can I use my own custom rental contract?
Yes. You can enter your own contract text directly in the settings. If you have an existing contract in PDF format, you can copy the text and paste it into the system. We also provide a base rental contract template that you can customize. We recommend having a lawyer review your contract before publishing it.
Can I require customers to upload license and insurance before or during booking?
Yes. You control this. The software lets you require documents before booking, after booking, or at pickup. You can also choose not to require them at all and collect documents in person. This keeps the booking flow in your hands and reduces abandonment when customers do not have documents ready.
What is the difference between marketplace bookings and my own website bookings?
They are two separate channels. Marketplace bookings come through BigRentals.com, where we advertise your inventory and handle customer inquiries. These carry a 20% commission. Bookings through your own website are customers you bring yourself, and you keep 100% of the revenue. The only cost on your own website bookings is standard payment processing fees.
